Master Class started

In September the H-Net Master Class started in a fully online environment by using specialized communicative technology. This new education tool, primarily web-based, is a deliverable of the H-Net project and aims to fill gaps shown in the preliminary results of the Survey.

From the hematologists in training, who will finish their training in Hematology mid 2011, that were nominated by National Hematology Societies to participate in the H-Net Master Class, 25 were selected for this pilot. Five groups of five mentees are working together on clinical cases under the guidance of one Master Class mentor. Especially challenging cases based on real life situations were selected, covering the following areas in the CV-passport:

Clinical Hematology

Diagnostics

Hemostasis and Thrombosis

Transfusion

This project aims to encourage learning from peers as a community, to discuss, debate and to share experience and knowledge in application. The first case study has been completed and a very successful feedback session took place in the form of a web conference, in which the mentees were able to ask the case author further questions, whilst he delivered his presentation and comments on their results. The outcomes of each case and group are published in the Hematology Confolio System, as a way of testing this new portfolio system, which is under development as one of the other deliverables of the H-Net project. The Hematology Confolio System will be launched in the summer of 2011.
